The Harriet Hodge Collection (Jack Dempsey)
Material from this groundbreaking vaudevillian, horse race owner and friend of Jack Dempsey. Over 200 pieces, the collection includes a wonderful group of Jack Dempsey material (about a dozen JD signed pieces, unsigned postcards, some unusual ephemera and more). The horse racing includes 80+ mounted photos (1940s-50s), lots of other great images, programs, tickets and much more. There are two huge scrapbooks filled with photos from her vaudeville career, more horse racing material (great Kentucky Derby stuff), boxing stubs (Louis-Mann 1938), and much more. There are even signed photos of the Andrews Sisters, Bebe Daniels/Ben Lyons, Rudy Vallee, and the Duncan Sisters. There is a lot more too numerous to list including superb material from VP Hubert Humphrey, a Don Larsen Perfect Game ticket stub and spectacular 1939 signed photo of Robert Wadlow, the tallest man who ever lived (at 8 feet 9.5 inches). He died soon after the photo was taken. Overall excellent condition.
