The Philippe Halsman Photograph Collection (777 pieces)
Culled directly from the collection of esteemed portrait photographer Philippe Halsman himself, this is one of the finest photograph collections we have ever brought you. All the materials are in their original identified envelopes and nearly all are stamped with the Halsman mark along with some handwritten notes. The sizes are exceptional, including some really big stuff (up to 16" x 20"). Most are 11" x 14" with a small number of of 8" x 10"s. Halsman ranks among the elite photographers of the 20th century and some of his best work is here: Elizabeth Taylor, exceptional Connie Mack baseball image, Dr. Benjamin Spock, comedian Bob Hope, early TV icon Dave Garroway, curvy Gina Lollobrigida, Edward Bennett Williams, VP scion Nelson Rockefeller, Firestone and photos for Life magazine. The shots date from the 1940s to the 1960s with a few pieces from the 1970s. They cover all walks of life with key subject matter being theater, fashion, modeling, the corporate world with many business leaders, politics, science and film. There is some duplication, but the more the merrier. This is from a little known "old" find in Rhode Island back in the 1980s.
