The Ultimate Bobby Richardson Collection Including Cards, Publications, Autographs & Display Pieces (100+)
There was Mantle. There was Maris. And there was Ford. But a key component to the Yankees' success in the late '50s and early '60s was the less-heralded Bobby Richardson. The All-Star second baseman was a catalyst at the plate and an insurance policy in the field, preserving the 1962 championship with a clutch catch of Willie McCovey's line drive in the decisive Game 7. This lot celebrates the five-time gold Glover's entire career, including virtually every Richardson card ever produced including Topps and Venezuela Topps. There are Post cereal exhibits, coins, stand-up, uncut proof and more up through some 2000s inserts. Also included are wire photos, a Yoo Hoo can and very rare photo cap. There is a complete Post cereal box and even a 1960s Wheaties box (no top) with Richardson featured on the back There is a pair of framed printing plates for his J.D. McCarthy Ppostcard as well as the back of the 1962 card. There is a 1960 World Series Game 3 display with a ticket stub (he was Series MVP that year) and even a "Richardson for Congress" bumper sticker. Additionally, a couple of signed letters are enclosed relating to the photos, plus many autographed cards and photos. To top it all off, there are books and publications including a 1955 Denver Bears Yearbook.
