Three Amazing U of Kentucky Basketball Photos (3)
Three notable Kentucky Wildcats are pictured in this trio of photos, highlighted by longtime coach Adolph Rupp in his 1st publicity photo with UK in 1930. Also included are shots of Ralph Beard and Alex Groza, two players who were implicated in the 1950-51 CCNY point shaving scandal. Those two photos bear a Mack Hughes photographer stamp on the back, whereas the Rupp photo bears a Lafayette Studio stamp and is double weight. Beard and Groza starred for Rupp on Kentucky's 1948 and 1949 NCAA Championship teams but were later banned from the NBA for their association in the point-shaving controversy.
