Tim McCarver Circa 1967 St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Batting Helmet

Tim McCarver Circa 1967 St. Louis Cardinals Game Worn Batting Helmet

This St. Louis Cardinals vintage game batting helmet was used by Tim McCarver in 1967 or 1968. The helmet is a size 7 3/8; we know that the Cardinals used this number font in both 1967 and '68. Stenciled on the back, consistent with the period, is the number 15. It shows outstanding use and is neither cracked nor broken. Made of heavy red plastic, it includes leather padding for comfort, and an American Baseball Cap sticker inside. Under the rim, in raised lettering, is "American Baseball Cap, Media Pennsylvania and US Patent Number 2,688,434." Worn during the playing days of a man whose broadcasting work transcends the game.
