Tony Lazzeri Game Used Glove

Tony Lazzeri Game Used Glove

With its cracked leather and dark brown tones, this classic Reach fielder’s glove is a beauty, yet it is the pinstriped pedigree that gives the glove its glorious value. It comes from New York Yankee second baseman Tony Lazzeri by way of the teammate that lifted it from him, none other than baseball legend Babe Ruth, who, in leu of any pocket change, tipped our consignor’s father in the early 1930’s with this mitt and the comment, “Do you play ball, kid? Take this. I swiped it from the Dago.” Showing heavy use, the leather in the webbing is torn, but still present. “Reach” is faintly imprinted on thumb of glove. This is a tough item from a Yankee Hall of Famer, and comes with a photo of Lazzeri using a similar glove, and an LOA from consignor with details on how it was obtained from Ruth.
