Turn of the Century YMCA Basketball Large Photograph

Turn of the Century YMCA Basketball Large Photograph

While it is common knowledge that James Naismith invented the game of basketball in 1891 using a soccer ball and two peach baskets, not many know about the YMCA's role in the development of the game. Naismith invented the game at the YMCA School for Training in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the YMCA played a major role in spreading the game globally. This photo is from the turn of the 20th century and is one of the earliest depictions of basketball's origins. The large photo is framed and matted, and appears EX-MT. The frame measures 21x26.5".
