Two 1948 Captain and the Kids Sunday Page Original Art
Two wonderful Sunday originals of The Captain and the Kids from 1948. Rudolph Dirks first created the comic in 1897 as The Katzenjammer Kids, but left his publisher in 1914 and started a new comic known initially as Hans and Fritz, then later as The Captain and the Kids, which was published concurrently with his original strip and used the same characters. In addition to these beloved comics, Dirks is best known for being the first to use speech balloons to regularly express dialogue. Both pieces are in like-new condition and have been beautifully mounted with artistic annotations. The strips measure 15x22.5" on 20x27" boards.
