Urban Shocker New York Yankees Photograph by Charles Conlon (PSA Type I)
Fine Charles Conlon image of the great New York Yankee pitcher Urban Shocker. Shocker played 13 seasons in the MLB and is remembered as one of the last legal spitball pitchers. While with the St. Louis Browns, Shocker led the American League as well as setting the Browns record in 1921 with 27 wins, and won at least 20 games 4 seasons in a row from 1920 to 1923. At the time of his retirement he was the Browns all-time leader in wins with 126 and shutouts with 23Sourcing from the Brown Brothers archive, this 7x9.25" example features a Brown Brothers stamp on the verso along with few handwritten notations (unknown hand) and Conlon's signature in pencil.
