urn-of-the-Century Tobacco and Candy Card Memorabilia Collection (4) w/Ramly Redemption Certificate

urn-of-the-Century Tobacco and Candy Card Memorabilia Collection (4) w/Ramly Redemption Certificate

Collection of four vintage items relating to classic tobacco and candy-card issues, all of which are scarce. 1) 1909 Ramly Cigarettes Redemption Coupon. This small coupon, which was inserted into packages of Ramly Cigarettes, lets customers know that they can obtain a beautiful large-format "photogravure" of one of six teams (NY Americans, NY Nationals, Boston Americans, Boston Nationals, Detroit, or Pittsburgh) by sending in ten Ramly box fronts and sixteen cents. What is interesting is that either the promotion was very short-lived or not very popular, because out of the six offered "photogravures," only one has ever surfaced (Pittsburgh), making them among the rarest of all tobacco premiums. The coupon, while not as rare as the premiums, is scarce and would be a wonderful compliment to any advanced Ramly card collection. The thin-paper coupon (4x2.5") displays a vertical fold (as issued) and a few light creases. In Very Good condition. 2) 1888 Allen & Ginter Receipt. The receipt, which is both preprinted and handwritten, is in the form of a postcard, dated May 28, 1888, and acknowledges a payment of $78.90. The Allen & Ginter company name is printed in the upper left corner. The name of the recipient ("R. G. Halliday") is printed on the front. Postmarked "Chicago May 28, 88." The notation "Reciept Allen + Ginter May 28/88" is written in red ink on the front. 5.25x3" VG. 3) 1890s American Caramel Company Unexecuted Stock Certificate. The certificate, which was issued to record the sale of capital stock in the American Caramel Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has not been filled out, but does bear the black-ink signature of the company's treasure, "Walter S. Hine," at the base. The certificate (11.75x8.5") displays moderate tears along the right border and is in Good condition overall. 4) 1903 Spaulding & Merrick Receipt. The receipt, which is both preprinted and handwritten, is in the form of a postcard, dated May 7, 1903, and acknowledges an order placed on May 1st by the "Falk Mer Co.," to whom the card is addressed on the front. The Spaulding & Merrick company name is printed in the upper left corner. Postmarked "Chicago May 7 1903." 5.5x3.25". GD-VG.
