Victory Gum Original Art Captain Ervine-Andrews
Talk about a true war hero, the story of Captain Ervine-Andrews could make a movie. Commanding a company that was greatly outnumbered and under extreme German fire, the Captain showed coverage, tenacity and devotion to duty worthy of the best traditions of the British Army. No wonder he was thought to be a perfect addition to the V-Gum series. He was drawn up by the art and design team under the direction of Charles Steinbacher and assigned to be card number 11. This is the piece of original artwork that was all set to be produced but after Pearl Harbor, the series was put on hold...it turned out to be on hold forever. No cards for this series were ever produced. The artwork ended up in Steinbacher’s safe for 50 years...only now do you have the rarest of rare opportunties to capture this piece of original artwork. The black ink drawing is on the board along with a tracing paper overlay containing the colored pencil which added the color to the artist. Note the great detail behind the portrait of Captain Ervine-Andrews. There are some minor tears at the upper right corner of the piece but it does not affect the overall artwork. 5.5x8”.
