Vince Lombardi Hall of Fame Induction Speech Notes from His Wife
Speech notes written by Vince Lombardi's wife, Marie, for his posthumous induction into the Hall of Fame describe the event as "football's greatest weekend." The ceremony took place on July 31, 1971, less than a year after Lombardi died of cancer on Sept. 3, 1970. Lombardi entered Canton, having guided the Packers to five NFL titles and the first two Super Bowls. His own words would not accompany him into enshrinement, so those contained on this well-preserved 4- by 6-inch index card spoke for him.
