Vintage Dana Boxing Photograph Collection (70)
Large group of 70 original Percy Dana photos (measuring approx. 4.5x6.5”) is one of the most comprehensive accounts of the epic battle between Jack Johnson and James Jeffries, which took place in Reno on July 4, 1910. Over 35 actions shots documenting the actual fight gives great round-by-round commentary up to and including the knockout. Every aspect of “the event” is captured in this collection, including Johnson entering the ring and outside the arena as well as the crowd and ceremonies before the fight. Commencing ceremonies include John L. Sullivan and Stanley Ketchel standing in the ring. Almost all photos are mounted on black construction paper. Overall EX to EX-MT. In the history of boxing, this was surely one monumental event which is talked about to this day.
