Vintage Gil Hodges Oil Painting by J.W. Orth
This circa 1959 oil painting is by artist J.W. Orth who is best known for his plein air style paintings of California land and seascapes. The portrait of a young Gil Hodges in his Dodger's uniform measures 20" x 24". The medium is oil paint on a masonite board and the painting is in its original frame which has an overall measurement of 30" x 34". The color choice lends itself to an earth tone palette and is a terrific rendition of Hodges with an almost photo realistic technique employed that gives us an incredible likeness.
