Vintage Views of Denver Colorado Photographs (50)

Vintage Views of Denver Colorado Photographs (50)

There is a fascinating range of subject matter in this vintage lot of (50) wire photos all pertaining to Denver. Dating from 1918 to the 1970's, there are plenty of beautiful photographs of the city & city life: downtown from the air in 1958, the capital under snowfall in 1930, as a newly incorporated turn of the century town in 1864 (reprinted in '58); skaters at city parks in 1963; crowds turned out at Chessman park for free light opera in 1943. Denver also had more that it's share of curious news stories with compelling photos that came over the wire: A view of the observatory at Denver university, host to scientists observing the total solar eclipse of June 8th, 1918; Denver patrolman in drag to catch purse snatchers in 1950; an Army technician in protective gear carrying a rabbit through the nerve gas stores near Denver, checking for leaks in 1970; a Titan ICBM displayed in Civic Center in 1959; 500 rioting Denver University students water balloon bombing a patrolman, who o was ticketing cars, from the windows of a university building in 1954. Sized from 3.5 x 4.5 to 8x12", the wire photos have either front captions or caption sheets. All are at least VG with many NM/MT.
