Washington Capitals/Ambassadors WFL Helmet

Washington Capitals/Ambassadors WFL Helmet

Prior to its 1974 debut, the World Football League planned to field a team in the Nation's Capital. And this was the promotional helmet that was used in the press conferences trumpeting the franchise's arrival. It's an Incredibly rare style and was never used since the team never came to fruition. Unable to locate a stadium, the fledgling franchise relocated to Florida and became the Blazers. The league, however, folded after two seasons, partially as a result of steep NFL competition. The league logo adorns the back of the Riddell helmet along the stripe, the logo decals are affixed on both sides and are somewhat raised. There is a faded piece of tape on the inside with the number 74 written in black ink, which is intriguing since this is a promotional model. If you're a WFL collector, this beautiful relic is an absolute necessity.
