Wild West Gouache Sketch - Man On Horse Running
This was part of a gallopping frenzy! When the Wild West card series was introduced, it felt like a gold rush going on. A rush of popularity to grab these cards. But before they could be grabbed, they had to be produced with class. And this one-of-a-kind piece of first class artwork shows how remarkable the card was. This Wild West goache sketch shows a man on horseback. It’s so realistic, you can imagine hearing the gallopping; you can feel the wind blowing off the hat of the rider. And the richness of the color--along with the pencil markings of the artist--Wow! The artwork is on a board measuring (approx) 6 1/2” x 7 1/2”. Produced under the art direction of the George Moll Agency art director Charles Steinbacher, this gouache sketch gives collectors a rare look at one of the most popular non sports series ever produced.
