Willard Brown Autographed Letter

Willard Brown Autographed Letter

The 1st African American player to homer in the A.L., Brown led the Negro Leagues in HRs 7 times, and was called “Home Run Brown” by Josh Gibson. A hamstring injury led him to send this handwritten letter to Santurce owner Pedro Zorilla accepting ineligible status until he healed. One of the very, very few Brown signatures around, and a beaut in clear blue ink grading NRMT. Letter on lined loose-leaf paper is EX-MT. Also included is a letter from the Santurce team president (on vintage Crabber stationery) notifying the league and a note from Brown’s doctor in Spanish.
