William "Dummy" Hoy Single Signed Baseball

William "Dummy" Hoy Single Signed Baseball

Light cream color Harridge AL ball signed on side panel, "William E. Hoy Alias Dummy Hoy" in blue ink. Signature rates 8 out of 10 and has been clear coated around the signature area. Hoy was a fine player for (14) years playing with several teams from 1888-1902. Single signed baseballs from this era are almost impossible, but most notably Hoy was the first deaf player to play Major League baseball. Hoy was nearly 100 years old when he passed away in 1961. Very rare piece with definite potential for HOF status. Originally from the Jim Armstrong Collection.
