William K. Vanderbilt Base Ball Championship Trophy (Circa 1900)

Art nouveau loving cup is silver plated and stands a stately 18" tall, made by Dieges and marked with their stamps at the bottom. Named for William Kissam Vanderbilt, the railroad baron and scion of one of the great American Families. Vanderbilt was known for his sporting interests, especially in horse racing where he founded The Jockey Club among others. Luscious art nouveau design has some plating loss, but could be replated into perfection.
