Willie Mays 1979 Emil Fuchs Award for National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction
Handed out to baseball's most distinguished performers by the Boston Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America, the Judge Emil E. Fuchs Memorial Award was named after the attorney and baseball owner. In 1979, the elegant silver plate was bestowed upon legendary outfielder Willie Mays. It is Engraved: "Judge Emil E. Fuchs Memorial Award... Presented to Willie Mays Upon His Election to Baseball's Hall of Fame... Boston Chapter Baseball Writer's Association of America... January 25, 1979." A piece of exceptional quality manufactured by the Poole Silver Company, It is footed with handles, and is elaborate in deign. It measures roughly 30" x 20" and is pretty heavy, weighing in it 1.75 pounds. Marked "E.P.C.A. Silver Plate Registered mark, "Poole Silver Company Inc. 4007."
