Willie Pastrano handwritten letter about Rubin "Hurricane" Carter
Amazing piece of boxing history! This undated, handwritten letter by former light heavyweight boxing champ, Willie Pastrano, professes an admiration for, and described a jail visit with Reuben "Hurricane" Carter. Carter's story, jailed for a murder he did not commit, was made famous by a Bob Dylan song and a feature film. Pastrano describes how he brought an influential New Orleans judge, Eddie Sapier, to meet with his friend in jail and other measures taken to free the innocent man. Fascinating read on 3.5 pages of mint, legal- size, yellow lined paper. Signed by Pastrano.
