Woodrow Wilson Signed Menu

Woodrow Wilson Signed Menu

President Woodrow Wilson signed this breakfast menu on board the U.S.S. George Washington, the ship that took him to and from the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. When he returned to the U.S., Wilson's idealism for a League of Nations was shot down by the Congress, which rejected the U.S. from participating. Wilson's tireless efforts caused his health to suffer, and became a virtual invalid. The menu measures approximately 3 3/4 x 5 1/2" and says, "United States Ship George Washington" in small letters acrows the top beneath the blue presidential flag. Date is February 22, 1919. Wilson signed in black fountain ink above the date. His signature rates an "8" out of a possible 10. The breakfast menu is included on the card. NRMT.
