Yankee Stadium Exhibit Card Vending Machine
Coin operated machine was once housed outside the Yankee Stadium Clubhouse in old Yankee Stadium. It was removed at the time of the renovation in the mid-1970s. This is corroborated by the fact that when our consignor obtained it, there were many unused and proof tickets for 1973 (last year before renovation) games as well as several unfilled line-up forms for the 1973 season which were packed inside the base of the machine....” Three of the pieces are now placed in the top portion of the machine, visible in the photos. Made by Mutoscope Company and retains original MUTOSCOPE decal, original 1939 WORLD’S FAIR POST CARD VENDOR Metal plate, original paint, and original (and only known) mirror top. There are about re-issued HOF white backed cards included. The machine was purchased in 1986 from bookseller Fred Baron who obtained it from an estate auction that was believed to be that of Mrs. Babe Ruth. Machine is 82” tall and is a stupendous example that is worth thousands of dollars apart from its important provenance. In excellent and working condition. 1986 LOA from Mr. Baron states this was indeed from Yankee Stadium.
