Yellow Kid Cigar Store Tin Advertising Sign

Yellow Kid Cigar Store Tin Advertising Sign

An original relic from the turn of the century. The Yellow Kid was used to market cigars at Brucker & Boghien in Philadelphia, and emerged as the lead character in Hogan's Alley. Drawn by Richard F. Outcault, it became known as the first newspaper comic strip. Words on Yellow Kid's nightshirt read, "Say! Get the high toned 3 cent cigar inside Brucker & Boghien Phila." Some condition flaws such as rust, dents, scratches, holes and some retouching of the black background. This is a great piece to look at and a rarity in any condition. Original backing on frame has paper labels -- one has the same image as the advertising sign itself. Measures 12.5 x 23.5."
