Yinka Dare Collection (10)
Nigerian born Yinka Dare was named Sports Illustrated Freshman of the Year in 1993 at George Washington University. The 7 foot 1” 271 pound center left school after two seasons when he became a first round draft pick of the New Jersey Nets. He died of a heart attack in 2004 at age 32. His college and professional life has been brought together in this historic 10-piece collection. Included is Dare’s game worn No. 33 jersey with its red, white and blue colors and stripes, Nets logo on the front and Dare’s name and number embroidered on the back. An NBA logo patch is on the front along with two Champion logo patches. The collection also includes a number of his college awards including two People’s Choice clocks and the 1992 Red Auerbach Colonial Classic Most Valuable Player trophy. During his four seasons with the Nets, the injury prone Dare played 110 games and averaged only 2.1 points and 2.6 rebounds. Even so, his untimely death left a memory of a player who still made an impact on the game and its fans.
