Young Corbett II (William H. Rothwell) Signed Contract and Photo Display (30.5x15.5")
Fascinating early boxing contract is completely handwritten on white lined paper, labeled simply, “San Francisco, Cal.” At top. Fight contract is dated Jan. 14, 1904 and is for a fight scheduled for the Woodwards Pavilion in San Francisco on March 11, 1904 “for sixty five percent of the gross receipts.” In slightly faded black fountain ink, it is signed at bottom, “W. H. Rothwell, ‘Young Corbett’.” Ink grades “5” out of a possible 10. Contract with original folds, VG. Flanked by two cabinet photos by Stacy (Brooklyn). Facsimile signature on each bottom white border. Photos are EX.
