1877 "The Hamptons" Base Ball Letter - Game Cancelled On Account of "Young Lady"

1877 "The Hamptons" Base Ball Letter - Game Cancelled On Account of "Young Lady"

Here is an extremely interesting letter written only one year after the creation of the National League. It originates from WC Ward, Captain of the Atlantic Base Ball Club to Jonathan Baker Captain of the Independence Base Ball Club, stating that their game needs to be canceled because a young lady near the park is quite ill and the noise would disturb her. They suggest moving the game to Sag Harbor versus the Hamptons (East Hamptons). Displays tiny separation at folds.
