1888-1889 Around the World Tour Chicago Base Ball Club Post Card
Fabulous postcard with the facial images of the Chicago White Stockings' "Stonewall Infield" of Cap Anson, Ed Williamson, Tom Burns, and Fred Pfeffer, the star attractions of the team's "world baseball tour", winter 1888-'89. Images of the trio of mustachioed heroes are next to a team roster. Card reads "The famous 'Stonewall Infield', Chicago Base Ball Club". Reverse reads "Pfeffer's Theater Court Buffet" and its Chicago address. Small holes in each upper corner and light wear on all corners. First we've seen of this gem. From the O'Connor Collection.
