1890s "The Standard" Baseball Wooden Display Box

1890s "The Standard" Baseball Wooden Display Box

Offered in this lot is a wooden box that used to house baseballs, representing a very rare counter display from a bygone era. The hinged lid opens to reveal 12 separate areas for baseballs (none remain here) with the illustration of a man's hand on the top holding a baseball with "Standard" labeling with clover leaf. The black printing reads, "THE STANDARD BASE BALLS FOR SALE HERE." The box is in Very Good condition with a circular water stain on the top, the wood on the lid is slightly detached but does not hinder the appearance one iota and could be glued back in place if so desired. It measures 9.75x12.75" and is a marvelous artifact.
