1940s Negro Texas League Baseball with Box
From 1924 to 1949, the Negro Texas League operated in the Lone Star State as well as neighboring locales such as New Orleans, Oklahoma City, and Birmingham. This rare baseball from that circuit is EX and appears as if it has never been used. The Wilson ball has "NEGRO TEXAS LEAGUE" stamped on the sweet spot and "W.B. Baker" stamped on a side panel as he was president of the league. The lot includes the original Wilson box that is missing the top flap. After the New Orleans Creoles captured the 1949 championship - two years after Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier - the league disbanded.
