This is a significant one-page, typed letter on White House stationary to The Crown Prince of Greece, dated March 17, 1906. This wonderful letter refers to the upcoming Olympic Games in Greece and reads in part, “to the Government of the United States to be officially represented at the Olympic Games at Athens in 1906, it has given me pleasure to designate Mr. James E. Sullivan, a prominent athlete of this country, as the Commissioner of the United States to said games.” Roosevelt has boldly signed the letter in fountain pen. Also included and framed with the letter is an original 5 x 7” black & white photograph of Theodore Roosevelt taken by Pach Studios of New York and copyrighted 1904. Professionally framed.
