1910s Harry Gowdy Decal Bat

1910s Harry Gowdy Decal Bat

The first major leaguer to enlist for service in World War I, Hank Gowdy is pictured, along with his facsimile signature, on this J.F. Hillerich & Sons model 40HG full-size bat, measuring 33.75". The decal on the barrel has sharp colors: red, yellow and gold and is 90% intact, minus some scuffing and abrasions. There is black tape on the handle and there is a two-inch chip at the end of the barrel. Warts and all, this is still a wonderful display item with vivid colors.
