1913 50th Anniversary of Gettysburg Hand-Painted Banner
Civil War memorabilia never fails to generate intrigue, and this 100-year-old artifact commemorating the turning point of the conflict is no exception. A well-executed painting on cloth featuring the federal-style eagle clutching the American flag in its talons. There are crossed cannons and the dates signify the 50-year anniversary of Gettysburg. This was probably present during the 1913 reunion that drew over 53,000 veterans to the historic Pennsylvania town that summer. The banner is in EX-MT condition and is nicely framed, measuring 29.5" x 31". The Gettysburg conflict was the costliest in terms of lives lost during the war, with both the Union and Confederate casualties ranging in the 50,000 range..
