1919 Babe Ruth Cigar Stock Certificate
His hitting wasn’t the only thing considered to be a ‘sure thing’. Anything with his name on it was (and is) worth its weight in gold. We have here a capital stock certificate for Babe Ruth Cigar Co., pre-New York Yankee years for the Babe, made out to William J. Dooley, father of the famed Boston Red Sox fan, Lib Dooley. This one is the only known from when the Bambino was a Boston sensation. Wonderful Americana graphics for certificate made out for (20) shares at $50.00 each and dated November 5, 1919. Raised “Babe Ruth Cigar Co. Massachusetts 1919” stamp in lower left. On verso is signature from William J. Dooley, also dated Nov. 5, 1919. Creased twice from folding. EX+.
