1920 Babe Ruth in "Heading Home" Lobby Card

1920 Babe Ruth in "Heading Home" Lobby Card

Sensational image of Babe Ruth in this lobby card for the 1920 silent film "Heading Home," which starred Ruth and offered a fictionalized account of his youth. Despite his rough upbringing in the city of Baltimore, Heading Home depicted Ruth as coming from a small, rural town and having a loving home life. In the film, Ruth is also portrayed as someone who doesn't know baseball and can't seem to get the hang of it. This scene on display is him on his way to the game where he smashes a HR that sends him hurtling on a course to the Major Leagues. The mythologized version of Ruth is further augmented by him cutting down a tree to make his own bat - a plot point that is revisited in The Natural. This lobby card is only one of a few known to exist and measures 11x14". Pinholes in three corners, as well as one on left and right edges. Minor creasing on top corners, otherwise EX.
