1920 Dayton Triangles Championship Football Players Award
Pre-NFL football player presentation piece is a wonderful silver charm with great detail in the shape of a period football (.75" in length). Engraved, "Triangles 1920 Champions" and verso is apparently a nickname, as the regular left tackle in 1920 was Harry Carter, engraved as "The Pistello Left Tackle." Team named for Triangle Park where they played in the founding days of the NFL as a member of the American Professional Football Association, now the NFL. This 1920 Triangles season was incredibly key as they not only won the very first APFA/NFL game, but achieved a 20-20 tie versus Jim Thorpe's Canton Bulldogs. Interestingly, they did not win the championship that year so this award may have been created in honor of either of those two games. These important pre-NFL pieces are extremely rare and historically priceless. When the NFL wakes up and realizes they should be saving these things, the prices will match out these facts.
