1922 Columbia University Football Program (vs. N.Y.U.) with Lou Gehrig
Lou Gehrig's prowess on the baseball diamond at Columbia is well documented, but many would be surprised to learn that he enrolled at the school on a football scholarship. Evidence of his days on the Columbia gridiron can be found here, in this scarce 1922 Columbia University football program issued for a game against N.Y.U. on October 21st. Gehrig is pictured in the interior team photo and listed by name in the lineup below. The fifty-two page program (7.5x10"), is not scored and displays heavy wear, including creasing, edge tears to the covers and pages, and separation of eight pages from the spine.
