1924-1926 Rogers Hornsby Side Written Game Used Bat GU9
Some say he was meaner than Ty Cobb. He has been linked with the KKK, and his fiery personality often burned bridges as he switched from team to team. Yet he was called "The Rajah", or "king". And man, could he hit... This Rogers Hornsby game-used bat is made by Hillerich & Bradsby, measures 34" long, and weighs 33.5 ounces. It shows evidence of heavy use with a crack on the back barrel. The crack and checking have been repaired with vintage nails. You can see many ball marks and ball stitch impressions on the right, left, and back barrel. Also visible are cleat marks on the right barrel. An area on the right barrel was planned to receive factory side writing, and lettering in vintage grease pencil in faintly visible. The bat was used by Hornsby sometime between 1924 and 1926. This bat, from the pre-model number era, has been graded: PSA/DNA GU 9. Detailed LOA from PSA/DNA.
