1927 Jack Dempsey vs. Gene Tunney II Full Ticket
On September 22, 1927, World Heavyweight Champion Gene Tunney defended his title against the man he won the crown from the previous year, Jack Dempsey. Dempsey knocked Tunney down in the 8th round, but referee Dave Barry delayed the count concentrating on getting Dempsey to a neutral corner. Some observers, including Dempsey, felt Tunney was down for 14 seconds. Tunney was able to get up and win a unanimous ten round decision. The fight was forever more known as “The Long Count.” Presented here is a scarce full, unused ticket to the event. The ticket names both fighters and has a beautiful illustrated back with raised lettering. In Excellent condition with no creases, stub firmly attached and bold color. Only slight edge and corner wear and a clean front and back.
