Rarely seen complete set in outstanding NRMT condition. These dandy trolley signs sport delicious green backgrounds. Five in the set they include: Tony Lazzeri “New York Yankees Star Infielder, “Lloyd Waner “Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball Sensation 1927,” Paul Waner “Voted N.L. Most Valuable Player 1927,” Bob “Lefty Grove” Philadelphia Athletics Star Pitcher,” and Harry Heilmann “Detroit Tigers World’s Leading Batter.” The rub with this set is that you see one here and one there through the years but a matched set is nearly impossible. In our many years of selling this type of material this is one of only two complete matched sets we have seen. The signs themselves are 21x11” and are beautifully framed. These were discovered in the 1970s by an advertising dealer and sold to Josh Evans who then sold them to super collector, Richard Gelman. They were then sold years later back to Mr. Evans who sold them to actor, Charlie Sheen, whose possession they have been in for the last ten years; they hung in his condo in Westwood, California and were the witness to many a raucous party. The frame to the Harry Heilmann sign fell victim to a Vodka bottle thrown by Mr. Sheen in his pre-sober days. This did not affect the sign itself, just some damage to the frame, and added an interesting tale to tell. The signs will come with a letter of authenticity from Mr. Sheen detailing this story and the line of ownership.
