1928 Mickey Cochrane MVP Plaque Awarded by The Penn Athletic Club
Hall of Fame Catcher Mickey Cochrane was feted with numerous awards over his lifetime, but he especially proud of this honor, as it hung right behind his desk. The wood and bronze piece measures roughly 10.5" x 9" and features a plaque in the center that reads: "PRESENTED TO GORDON COCHRANE BY THE PENN ATHLETIC CLUB IN HONOR OF HIS WINNING THE AWARD OF THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN ALL BASEBALL FOR THE YEAR 1928." The award is in VG condition with some tarnishing to the metal. The wording is a little unusual - and inaccurate - as Cochrane was singled out as the American League MVP for his terrific season with the Philadelphia A's. There was also a National League honoree - Jim Bottomley of the St. Louis Cardinals.
