1930's Lou Gehrig Signed Photograph (7.5x9.5")

1930's Lou Gehrig Signed Photograph (7.5x9.5")

One of the most charming Gehrig photos we've ever seen, and signed to boot! Strong 9/10 inscription reads, "To Thomas Miley from 'Lou' Gehrig." If you're wondering who Thomas Miley is, look to the freckle-faced kid struggling under the weight of a huge catcher's mask and mitt. That's him. His friends watch from the background, giving this a great sandlot, "Our Gang" sort of feel. By way of authentication we offer a couple of other intriguing pieces. First is a letter in its original envelope from Vice President Richard Nixon mailed in 1954, thanking Mr. Miley for an earlier letter. The two Nixon signatures are autopen. The later (1961) letter from Dwight Eisenhower, however, is signed in perfect black ink by Ike himself. That signature is as strong as Gehrig's. All pieces were acquired from Mr. Miley personally. An unusual lot to be sure, but who's complaining?
