1930s "Men of Destiny" Display Figures (5)

Absolutely stunning, handcrafted, handpainted dolls of the 20thCentury's "Five Men of Destiny." This is possibly one-of-a-kind and spent many years in the legendary Ted Hake Collection. Created by Saroff Studios of St. Louis in the 1930s, it boasts dead-on interpretations of Franklin Roosevelt, Neville Chamberlain, Mahatma Gandhi, Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Each is 12.5" with a stuffed body over wire aperture and composition heads, hands and feet. Each stands on a 4x4" velvet-covered base. Meticulous detail includes FDR's mother-of-pearl vest buttons, Chamberlain's wood and wire umbrella, Hitler's uniform armband and Maltese cross, Mussolini's stitched pockets, and Gandhi 's duo of teeth. Statuettes are EX-MT. Set comes with original 9.5" display card that as used in a display. Possibly used at the 1939 New York World's Fair.
