1930s Vintage Japanese Baseball Boxes (2)
Nice vintage baseball boxes. The Matsuda box says they were game baseballs as opposed to practice balls, most likely used at the high school or college level. They were manufactured in Nagano Prefecture. Tamazawa baseballs were used during the Babe Ruth 1934 tour, but there is a stamp on this box indicating they were used at the school level. Both boxes measure 9x12" and would fit a dozen balls. Most printing on the box is in English. Brightly colored box features a map on which "Nippon" and "America" are designated in red print. Box cover reads, "Cork Center Official American Ball Professional League." Cover adds "Cow Hide Cover 5oz 9in Accurately." In addition, cover adds "Guaranteed To Last Fullgame Without Ripping Or Losing Shape."
