1931 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Universal All-Stars Oversized Photograph
From a recent find right out of New Jersey, this stunning photo is the only one of its kind known in private hands. The incredible quality image is Type I all the way, and features awesome images of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in this rarely seen national tour. Bottom legend reads, "Babe Ruth Playing with Fort Lee - Base Ball Team - Oct 4th, 1931 vs. West New Yorks." Measuring 12.5x9.5", it does have some creasing and tears but the subjects present beautifully and it may well be impossible to find another available for purchase. This barnstorming team promoted the Bambino's short features for Universal Studios in Hollywood, and it is likely some of the games were filmed. The only other specimen known of this image is in the Fort Lee, New Jersey city archive.
