1931 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball

1931 Babe Ruth Single Signed Baseball

Say what you will about the Babe. Call him a boozer, a glutton, a womanizer, but you can't deny this--he had a heart of gold. While today's superstar athletes glide through life behind the tinted glass of limousines, the Babe was posing for photos in hotel lobbies, always happy to sign an autograph in a restaurant, and visiting sick kids in hospitals. Further proof of the Bambino's kindness lies in the dark black ink inscription on the side panel of this well-toned "Taylor Official League" ball. In Ruth's attractive script, it reads, "To Jerrold Golding, best wishes for a speedy recovery, From Babe Ruth." A couple scuffs touch the inscription itself, but the signature itself is unbothered. Just below, on the side panel, Ruth has dated the ball "Jan 30-1931." A fine piece that serves to illustrate why the Babe was the most beloved sports figure of all time.
