1931 "Various Shifts" by Knute Rockne Lobby Card Complete Set

1931 "Various Shifts" by Knute Rockne Lobby Card Complete Set

Extremely rare and important lobby card set is as desired by movie collectors as by sports people. This nearly one of a kind complete set promotes the "Christy Walsh All-America Sports Reel" series eventually titled "Various Shifts." Supposedly filmed BEFORE Knute Rockne died in an airplane crash in Kansas in March, 1931 (according to IMDB) we do not see Knute in any of the cards. However, Rockne is given only a writing credit perhaps he never made it. Knute's agent Christy Walsh does visit the famed Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team in South Bend and demonstrates, using these players, their various backfield shifts as well as those of Bennie Bierman (Tulane) and Howard Jones (USC). These came from the estate of Joe Bihler, right hand man of famed agent Christy Walsh. Eight card set features a wonderful title card with the entire lineup of Notre Dame stars. Each player has his position written in large block letters across his jersey to make the "various shifts" more transparent. 11x14" cards present overall well, but have some chips and paper loss.
