1932 Jimmie Foxx American League Most Valuable Player Award
In 1932, Jimmie Foxx hit .364, crushed 58 longballs and drove in 169 runs. He made a gallant and determined effort to match Babe Ruth's record of 60 homers in a season. For that stellar summer of '32, he was awarded the American League's Most Valuable Player Award. 73 plus years later, here is this coveted relic, up for bid. Silver plated trophy has engraved on two-thirds of the front "<i>James Emory Foxx - First Baseman - Philadelphia Athletics - Voted Most Valuable Player In American League For 1932 Season By The Sporting News Committee</i>." The reverse features a raised batter in a batting pose. In all-original condition, the award is 29" tall from its base to the apex of the silver baseball which rests on top of three crossed bats. The base has some minor age wear and light surface impressions, none of which takes away any desirability from this choice artifact. Jimmie Foxx' 1932 American League Most Valuable Player Award is in Excellent condition overall. This amazing trophy has remained in the consignor's possession since Foxx's untimely death in 1967.
