1934 Babe Ruth Signed New York Yankees Team Photo (8x10”)
A unique and absolutely splendid black & white of the 1934 New York Yankees. Posed standing all in a row in their dugout at Yankee Stadium, each player is holding a pen and a baseball, as if signing an autograph. A handful of spectators look on from the stands directly behind the dugout. This fabulous team photo with Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Dickey, Ruffing, Combs, Gomez, Crosetti, McCarthy, Heffner & Chapman was printed with each of the player’s facsimile signatures underneath, except for Babe Ruth’s. But don’t fret - the Babe’s actual black fountain pen signature sits right in the middle of the photo, nice and large, and grades an 8-9 out of a possible 10. This outstanding signature makes this fabulous piece of baseball memorabilia really stand out. Photo exhibits exemplary contrast with Christy Walsh stamp on the verso. This was used as some sort of promotional photo, most likely in Macy’s. Included is the original Macy’s bag, which has lovingly held and preserved the photo and the Bambino’s signature for almost 70 years! The photo is evenly toned with some creasing throughout. Small puncture hole just above Lazzeri’s head. Slightly curled, VG-EX. Most definitely a keeper.
